A man’s idea to smuggle marijuana by hiding them among frozen carrots wasn’t as brilliant as he may have thought.
The 29-year-old man from Maywood, CA was driving a truck from California into a cargo facility near San Diego when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials inspected the truck.
At first glance the boxes only appeared to contain frozen bright orange carrots, but a closer look revealed 42 hidden packages of pot.
Police found approximately 310 pounds of pot which would have a street value of about half a million dollars.
The driver, whose name has not been released, is facing federal charges for the attempted illegal smuggling of marijuana.
